Students from Charles Boehm Middle School in Yardley were among the winners of Capital Health’s recent Wellness Warriors public service announcement (PSA) video contest. Madeline Noss and Scarlett Moschitti (along with teacher Mr. David Howe) represented Charles Boehm in the “Honorable Mention” category and were one of four winning teams in the contest for students in grades six through eight from middle schools in Mercer and Bucks counties.
As part of its Capital Healthy Students initiative, the Wellness Warriors campaign invited students to share creative, peer-to-peer messages about how they maintain healthy habits in their daily lives. More than 350 entries were submitted from schools across the region, making this the most competitive year to date. Prizes were awarded in four categories: Most Creative, Most Impactful, Best Messaging, and Honorable Mention. Capital Health awarded each winning school $2,000 for its respective parent/teacher organization. Rebecca Kelly, director of Strategic Partnerships at Capital Health leads the Capital Healthy Students initiative and presented award certificates to the winning students and teachers.
“Each year, this campaign is one of the most meaningful parts of my work,” she said. “These videos are filled with creativity and show just how powerful it is when messages come from kids themselves.”
Other winners of the Wellness Warriors PSA contest include Lawrence Middle School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey (Most Creative), Grice Middle School in Hamilton, New Jersey (Most Impactful), and Newtown Middle School in Newtown, Pennsylvania (Best Messaging).
Wellness Warriors is part of Capital Healthy Students, an innovative campaign developed by Capital Health to empower kids to take charge of their health, adopt lifelong wellness habits, and serve as role models for their peers.
This fall, Capital Health launched its next PSA campaign – Post Positive – which encourages students to think before they post to social media. By showing how one positive post can make all the difference, the campaign teaches digital awareness by helping foster a more thoughtful, inclusive online culture.
