Emilie United Methodist Church, located at 7300 New Falls Road in Levittown, will celebrate the Christmas season with two special musical events open to the public this December.
On Saturday, December 7 at 4:30 pm, the church will welcome Philadelphia Bronze, an auditioned community handbell choir known for its exceptional musicianship and its recent invitation to perform at a prominent annual handbell seminar. The ensemble rehearses at Emilie UMC and presents two free concerts each year as a way of giving back to the church and the surrounding community for their ongoing support.
This year’s program, “All I Want for Christmas,” features a joyful collection of well-known Christmas favorites, including “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth,” “Wonderful Christmastime,” selections from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and “Ding, Dong! Merrily on High.” The performance reflects on how Christmas wishes and traditions evolve over time. Admission is free, and a freewill offering will be received to support Philadelphia Bronze.
On Saturday, December 14 at 10 am, Emilie’s Sanctuary Choir and chamber orchestra will present “Glory to the Newborn King,” a new composition by Lloyd Larson, a renowned contemporary composer known for his inspiring sacred works. The cantata is woven with familiar Christmas carols and tells the story of Christ’s birth, sharing a message of hope, joy, and love for all people.
Both events will be directed by Hyosang Park, Music Director and Organist at Emilie United Methodist Church. Park is a graduate of Westminster Choir College and a doctoral candidate at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. In addition to her work at Emilie UMC, Park serves as the Artistic Director of Philadelphia Bronze.
These meaningful musical celebrations are open to all, and the community is warmly invited to attend.
