DeAngelo Hall thinks Eagles offense is going to 'flow smoother' without AJ Brown

Posted

The Philadelphia Eagles made a tough decision this offseason, parting ways with A.J Brown. Now that the dust has settled and most of the emotional responses have calmed, it's a little easier to look at how the trade benefits both parties.

The Eagles traded Brown to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick, marking the end of an era that saw the former Titan amass over 5,000 yards during his time in Philly, setting a franchise record for back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, and of course, a Super Bowl ring to go with it.

Unfortunately, the off-field tensions reached a boiling point and forced Howie Roseman to make a decision that would serve the interests of both teams and Brown's own future.

When asked about the trade in a recent interview, former 3x Pro Bowl CB DeAngelo Hall spoke candidly about what the future might hold for the Eagles following AJ's departure.

'Distractions just take the focus off of football and winning games, and this caused a ton of distractions in the Philadelphia Eagles locker room.' Hall said via HardRock Bet.

Hall knows better than most the importance of having a bona fide WR1. The former Commanders CB has gone up against the best of them over the course of his 14-year career, including DeAndre Hopkins during that fabled 'Hard Knocks' duel. Renowned for his passionate personality and emotional presence on the field, if there's ever a corner to understand why and how tensions flare, it's one of the best trash talkers of his time.

"Even when they won games, there was always talk about Brown’s stats and whether he got enough targets," Hall said. "There was always something. So, now they can wash their hands, and there’s no more Jalen versus A.J. talk.

"That offense is going to be able to flow a little bit smoother than it did last season, and they can put the focus back on winning football games... Sometimes it can be good for both sides to just have a clean break and go their separate ways."

We'll see how this all pans out over the next couple of years, but for now, both parties will be focusing on their new beginning.
