Frederick Douglass comes to Newtown

On Wednesday, February 4, the Newtown Theatre welcomed history back to its stage with an unforgettable evening honoring Frederick Douglass. Exactly 162 years after Douglass spoke in Newtown, nationally acclaimed performer Darius Wallace brought his words, passion, and moral authority to life in Frederick Douglass: The Self-Made Man & The Work of Rebuilding a Nation.

Guests also enjoyed a special pre-show cocktail hour at the historic Half-Moon Inn, where Wallace appeared in character as Frederick Douglass.

Proceeds from the cocktail hour benefited the Newtown Historic Association, making the night both meaningful and memorable.
