Woodside Meals on Wheels is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to addressing the nutritional needs of homebound/limited mobility elderly citizens in Lower Bucks County. Since we began delivering meals in 1975, we have provided over 500,000 meals to our neighbors.
Our meals are prepared by our partner, Pennswood Village, a continuing care retirement community in Newtown. Every Wednesday, a team of dedicated volunteers comes together to pack and deliver close to 200 meals for clients. The meals are delivered between 10 am and 11:30 am every Wednesday. We take pride in getting to know our clients and in making their days a little brighter by delivering meals, a smile, and a short visit.
For our caring volunteers, having the opportunity to meet our clients and interact with them is the most gratifying part of serving with our organization. For clients’ families, it is comforting to know that a caring volunteer is checking in on their loved ones.
Areas we cover: Parts of Langhorne, Penndel, Newtown, Yardley, Upper/Lower Makefield, Morrisville, Holland, Churchville, Richboro, and Southampton.
Who we serve: Our service is directed to individuals who live alone, cannot shop for themselves and have difficulty preparing their own meals. We can also support shorter term clients during home recovery after surgery, etc.
Delivery Schedule: Our drivers deliver meals once a week on Wednesday mornings, between 10-11:30am.
Meal composition: Each meal includes a frozen entrée with a protein, starch, and vegetable. We also include cold items such as fresh fruit, bread and butter, salad, dessert and choice of 8 oz beverage.
Cost: Clients can order up to five complete meals a week. Each meal costs only $3.75 per day.
