Women’s Animal Center to waive adoption fees during ‘Clear the Shelters’ event

Women’s Animal Center in Bensalem will waive adoption fees for cats, dogs and small animals on Saturday, Aug. 29, as part of the nationwide NBCUniversal “Clear the Shelters” pet adoption campaign.

The local shelter is participating in the annual event, which aims to find permanent homes for surrendered and stray animals.

Inspire Federal Credit Union, this year’s event partner, is providing financial support to cover the adoption fees for families and individuals who adopt from Women’s Animal Center during the event.

The adoption event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Women’s Animal Center, 3839 Richlieu Road in Bensalem and will feature complimentary refreshments, giveaways for adopters and coloring activities for kids.

All shelter pets adopted from Women’s Animal Center are spayed or neutered, receive vaccinations, and are microchipped. Adopters will also receive 10% off their pet’s first annual physical exam at the center’s Veterinary Hospital, organizers said.

"For many families, a pet becomes an important part of that story, and we're proud to support opportunities that bring them together," said Jim Merrill, President & CEO of Inspire Federal Credit Union.

People interested in adopting are encouraged to visit Women’s Animal Center’s adoption page before the event to view available pets and learn more about the adoption process, including what documentation and other items to bring.
